Welcome to Year 2! You've made a big step forward by mastering all the challenges you had to face in Year 1, moving from the Elementary school to the High school. You've made new friends and this year should be about investing even further in developing your friendships. I am really very proud of you.
Year 2 is an important year for you. As you will continue with the curriculum in depth, you'll be developing your learning and studying skills whilst having the opportunity to learn two more foreign languages, helping you make an informed choice in Year 3.
I encourage you to take part in extracurricular activities, sports, charity events and become members of the clubs that seem interesting to you. As you already know, many wonderful things happen during these events and it’s a very good opportunity to socialise, learn and help others. Highlights of this year for you are the Brotherhood and Valentine’s party, Sports Day and of course Weir Camp in the summer!
Beyond academic success, this year I would like us to focus more on self-discipline, trust, altruism and respect for peers, teachers, the environment and the community. These values are just as important as academic skills in enabling you to develop into responsible individuals.
I want to reassure you that your teachers, mentors, older students and I are always here to make your student life easier and enjoyable. Enjoy the ride!
